Community Collection Events

These projects focus on collecting needed items that directly support local families, schools, community centers, and charitable reuse programs.

Collect Eyeglasses, Cell Phones, and Hearing Aids

Overview: The club collects used eyeglasses, cell phones, and hearing aids in Leisure World. Flip phones are given to Family Advocacy women’s shelters, and used hearing aids and eyeglasses are recycled for people who can benefit from them.

How to Help: Donate used cell phones, eyeglasses, and hearing aids to support recycling and reuse programs

Aluminum Can Recycling

Overview: The club collects aluminum cans throughout Leisure World and recycles them for cash, with proceeds distributed to charities at the end of the Lions fiscal year.

How to Help: Donate aluminum cans at collection locations including Rec 1, Rec 2, Rec 3, and the Broadway exit recycle center.

School Supply Drive

Overview: The club collects school supplies for Jefferson Elementary School during June and July based on a list of items needed provided by the school.

How to Help: Donate requested school supplies during the summer collection period and drop them off at xxx

Winter Coat Drive

Overview: The club collects coats for children at Jefferson Elementary in the fall to help meet seasonal needs.

How to Help: Donate children’s coats at the Admin Building collection box.

Food and Hygiene Collection

Overview: Each week, the club collects non-perishable food items for local food banks and hygiene items for the New Hope Community Center, helping support people in need.

How to Help: Donate non-perishable food and hygiene items such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, wash cloths, soap, shampoo, razors, and shave cream in the Admin Building collection box.

Used Book Collection

Overview: The club collects used books, which are picked up by Sunshine Acres and sold by the pound to raise funds for Sunshine Acres and Camp Tatiyee. The project also works with the Leisure World library and residents to receive unwanted books.

How to Help: Donate used books or help with collection coordination and pickup support.
